Color Theories: Back to the 80s (3 month subscription)
Welcome to Color Theories! This ongoing yarn club explores the interplay of color and narrative over a 3 month yarn subscription. The Fall subscription is entitled City Wanderings and consists of 3 hand dyed skeins of yarn plus extras. There will be 3 shipments between Sept 21 and November 21. Each 3 month period is paid for up front and renewed for the next installment.
I have always been a reader and someone who thinks a lot about how stories are told, so it is natural for me to approach color from a narrative perspective. What stories do colors tell? How do they relate to each other and how do their stories change when matched with another color or two? How does color tell *our* stories?
The Fall Color Story will be about my high school fashion choices in the 80s.
I'm excited to partner with Annika Barranti Klein in this project. She has written a flash fiction narrative for each color that will be included with the shipments. Annika has a way with words that vividly captures the story behind each color. The stories are illustrated by Finn Pedersen and printed on heavy stock for keeping or even framing.
You may choose your base yarn from the following:
Ecola Fine (500 yards)
Ecola Sport (320 yards)
Ecola Worsted (215 yards)
- all are a luxury blend of fine merino and silk that are soft to the touch and and a joy to knit.
Celilo Fingering (435 yards) - a fluffy Falklands merino/silk blend that feels like cashmere and has beautiful stitch definition
Montara Sock (435 yards) - a fingering Corriedale/nylon blend that is a perfect, smooth and non-superwash sock yarn. It's also perfect for shawls and colorwork.
Other goodies that are part of the subscription membership include a TDP stitch marker and a small ocean themed project bag (pictured fabric will not necessarily be the fabric of your bag). Shipping to the US is included in the price.
I can't wait to share this exploration of color with you.
